Being healthy and THRIVING isn’t just about diet and exercise….there’s many more elements to consider.

Have you ever considered how powerful your mind is in creating your current and future reality?

Many don’t realize the impact our thoughts have on our health and well-being. This realization has been an integral piece in my own healing journey.

I’ve asked my dear friend, Amanda Awethu, to share her story and message about the power of thought.

YOU are worth it

Eat REAL Food…Eat Paleo…You Are Worth It!

March 19th, 2013 | Thinking, Uncategorized

Everyone is busy these days…we get it…there’s work, kids, friends, pets, bills, exercise and just “stuff” that needs to get done.  One of the things that tends to get pushed on the back burner is YOU and YOUR HEALTH…the most important thing of all!  If you don’t take care of YOU…it’s awfully hard to take care of others (kids, family, etc). It is so important to take the time to care for your body, mind and spirit…even though it often seems like there isn’t enough time…you and your family can’t afford for you NOT to.  Go HERE to read more about the Paleo Secret’s Guide to living a balanced and fulfilling life. Living a Life of Gratitude

Living a Life of Gratitude

January 15th, 2013 | Living, Thinking

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, and confusion into clarity. It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

The Paleo Secret Guide to Goals vs Resolutions

December 29th, 2012 | featured, Thinking

I am of the belief, and I think you’ll find it echoed by experts on the subject, that “resolutions” are generally weak for several reasons. First, they tend to be vague things like “lose weight” or “get healthier” – In order to achieve something, you need to quantify what the exact desired result is. The human mind will work a lot harder to achieve something explicit, where as something vague is easy to sluff off.

Over the years it has almost become cliche for people to set “new years resolutions”, that they may aggressively pursue for a month or so, but in the end forget about 2 months into the year and slide right back into their old habits. People regard resolutions as being ok to forget about, because they’ve always done it, and everyone they know does too. A goal is more of a pact with yourself, that if written down and tracked holds much more weight, and has the potential for disappointment. If you don’t hit it, you are essentially breaking a promise to yourself by not keeping it. Resolutions are much easier to ignore, thus often times ineffective. Keep Reading…

A Dog Named “Buddy”… Pleasure vs Pain

November 2nd, 2012 | Thinking

Lately I’ve been learning a lot about pleasure vs pain. It seems we’ll make decisions and behave in a certain way based on what we believe will cause us “pleasure” or “pain.” If we associate something with pleasure then we’ll do that “something” and if we associate “something” with pain we won’t. What’s interesting is that it’s our neurological conditioning that dictates whether or not we think something will give us pleasure or pain.

Be like our ancestor and do what healthy people do

Learning From our Ancestors and a New Perspective on Health

September 12th, 2012 | Thinking

We’ve been conditioned into believing that much of our health is already decided for us with our inherited genetics.  We’re told that it all “runs in our family” and as patients were are often asked about the history of our family’s health. It’s not a comfortable feeling if you ask me… like we have no control and we are just sitting and waiting for bad things to come. Many of us feel like victims in that sense. When people refer “preventative medicine”… it’s really just a series of objective test to see if it’s time for you to take medicine. This is how it’s largely been going in western culture… this has been our thought process… but who actually LIKES taking medicine? Why is it this way?… And is this the way is has to be? Being the Negotiator and Stepping Away From the Pizza

I help many people move towards better health, well-being, etc… but it’s not always so easy as “eat this way” and “move this way.” There’s much more too it and sometimes I have to talk down the terrorist so to speak.  Such was the case yesterday with my friend Jim. Keep Reading…
