For those that want to take your health to the next level….

OR

If you have any sort of digestive related disease, digestion issues or pelvic related issues listen up!

Squatting on the pot could dramatically improve your digestion and your health!  Yes…you heard me correctly.  This position is actually the most optimal anatomical position in which to defecate or go #2.  Most people in the world actually still eliminate like this (mostly in Asia, Africa and the Middle East).  Why is this important? Because NOT defecating in this position has negative effects on bowel health. I’ve written multiple entries mentioning the importance of optimizing digestion in order to stay healthy and have a healthy immune system. Optimizing digestion includes breaking down and assimilating food properly AND being able to eliminate waste from our bodies. Keep Reading…

Paleo Cooking: 3 Tools to Save Time in the Kitchen

March 26th, 2013 | living, Practical Living

We’ve established that this paleo/primal approach takes some time and effort, but there are ways to make nutrient-dense meals that are quick and easy.  Keep in mind…every meal does NOT have to come from a recipe.  When you buy quality food, you don’t need to add a whole lot to it.  I remember hating things like spinach and broccoli when I was a kid.  I thought I hated those things as an adult until I began trying fresh, in-season, versions of these vegetables. They were quite different from the repulsive green stuff I remembered as a child. Spinach sautéed in butter and garlic…simple and amazingly delicious. Fresh, steamed broccoli topped with olive oil, salt and pepper…suprisingly good! Keep Reading…

Non-Toxic Toothpaste Alternatives AND the Connection Between Healthy Teeth and Diet

March 5th, 2013 | living, Practical Living

We have been using a natural toothpaste without chemicals and fluoride for years, however I have learned that glycerin found in my toothpaste and many of the natural toothpastes, is also not a great thing to put on your teeth. Apparently, glycerin coats the teeth and prevents vital minerals from getting to the teeth. Good to know!  So…now I am in the process of finding a better, fluoride-free, non-toxic toothpaste alternative. I’ve learned of a couple good options and I plan on trying them both. Keep Reading…

The Dangers of Fluoride

February 12th, 2013 | living, Practical Living

I recently purchased the The HealThy Mouth Summit, which is a series of interviews of experts on biological dentistry, holistic approaches to dental health and caring for your teeth from an “inside-out” approach (not just topical methods, but using nutrition as well). So far, it is a wealth of information.  As I learn from these experts I plan to share with you anything that I feel would be helpful information.

I recently listened to a lecture by Dr. David Kennedy called The Truth About Fluoride. The fact that we voluntarily put fluoride into our drinking water blows my mind. It’s another one of those moments where I go… “What were we thinking!” If you aren’t aware of the impact of fluoride on YOUR body and health….read on.  Here is a summary of key points from Dr. Kennedy’s lecture and information about fluoride. See Dr. Kennedy’s bio below: Keep Reading…

Paleo Secret’s Guidelines to Eating Out

January 22nd, 2013 | Eating, Practical Living

As a general rule, we don’t eat out very frequently.  Reason being, the food at most restaurants are generally inferior to the quality we buy from the farmer’s market or local grocery stores.  We choose to buy organic produce as much as possible, grass-fed and pasture raised meat/poultry, wild-caught fish, and cook with healthy, non-toxic fats.  With that said, there are some great restaurants out there that provide quality food and strive to source their menus from local farmers.  Keep Reading…

Oregano Oil: A Natural Alternative to Antibiotics…and More

October 18th, 2012 | Healthcare, living, Practical Living

Let me tell you how I came to learn first-hand of the incredible healing properties of oregano oil….

If any of you read our story, you know that I have been on a journey to restore my health over the past 5 years or so.  At the lowest of low points in my health crisis I was bed-ridden for a month and half, covered in rashes and extremely ill with a crazy infection that consisted of pus-filled pockets in my throat and mouth. Doctors were quite concerned and would give me antibiotic after antibiotic, searching for something that could fight this raging infection. Keep Reading…

Think Twice About What You’re Putting On Your Skin

August 3rd, 2012 | living, Personal, Practical Living

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. What you put on it is just as important as what you put in your mouth. According to the FDA, we each use 9 personal care products daily, containing about 126 chemical ingredients. The large majority of these chemicals are toxic to our health and are not tested for safety.  Even products that claim to be “natural” or “plant-derived” can be filled with toxic ingredients. The Trilogy of Human Endowments

August 1st, 2012 | Personal, Practical Living, Thinking

“Mind, Body, Soul….This is the trilogy of human endowments. To improve your mind without the cultivation of your physical gifts would be a very hollow victory. Elevating your mind and body to their highest level without nurturing your soul would leave you feeling very empty and unfulfilled. But when you dedicate your energies to unlocking the full potential of all three of your human endowments, you will taste the divine ecstasy of an enlightened life.” Excerpt from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari Keep Reading…
