Approximately 5 years ago, I was misdiagnosed with hypothyroidism.
My treatment consisted of constant changes to my prescription. I started having a lot of GI issues so I tried several diets – Weight Watchers, Low-Carb, Apple Cider drinks, Medifast and even the Mediterranean Diet. None of these worked for me.
I bought a Fitbit so I could track my steps and with my job, I was reaching 10,000 daily. I would also go to the gym at least 3 times per week but STILL I had no success! I became very frustrated, depressed and felt like crap. My joints hurt and I had no energy.
Then one day at work (I’m a nurse), I was talking to a patient and her husband. They proceeded to tell me about the Paleo Diet. I had heard of it but didn’t know what it was. So when I got home from work that night, I looked it up and became very interested. I ordered the 30-Day Challenge and began my quest.
I can say that I have successfully lost 12 pounds.
I feel more energized.
I eat 3 meals per day and am never hungry. I love the recipes!
I thought giving up sweets would be hard but I don’t miss it. I don’t miss grains. I do miss dairy, but I know that I can have it in small amounts so I’m particular about what kinds I have now.
I look forward to seeing what else this lifestyle change will do for me!
